Baby Bucks - Baby Shower Auction

As an alternative to providing traditional small prizes for every game, provide paper 'baby bucks' to be used in a auction for a fewer number of larger (an possibly more expensive) prizes. It also allows for more than one winner for each game.

Use 'baby bucks' to bid on prizes.
How it Works:

Throughout the shower hand out 'baby bucks' to be used to bid on mystery prizes. Guests will receive 'baby bucks' by winning or participating in games. But if you are not a games person you can also get them for other things like wearing your tea hat, or creating a rhyme to go with your present (see Around the Clock Shower).

Hold auctions for mystery prizes wrapped in paper or hidden in gift bags. It is more fun if everyone does not know what they are bidding on. Holding multiple auctions throughout the shower gets guest excited and I find they get quite competitive to win more 'baby bucks' for later auctions. It also helps you collect more baby bucks back to handout later.

For more ideas on how to award the 'baby bucks' see the post on the Around the Clock schedule.

Alternative:

A popular type of baby shower (especially for showers that are not for the first child) are diaper showers where guests are asked to bring various sizes of diapers for the new parents. You can use 'baby bucks' to award guests for bringing diapers. You can hand out 1 'baby buck' for each diaper (or 1 for 5 diapers, or whatever you choose) then hold auctions for everyone to bid on prizes.

Baby Bucks:

Print Baby Bucks on coloured paper (can match your shower colour theme) and cut along the lines. If you like you can print on both sides.

A great way to keep everyone involved and excited throughout the shower.
