About this Blog

I have to admit I actually not a huge fan of baby showers. As someone who does not have any children I find it torture sitting around listening to birthing and baby stories and pretending to be interested in all the tiny clothes and gadgets I can't even being to comprehend...and don't get me started on the games!

However, I have now reached the age where invitations to parties involving jello-shots and dance bars are lacking. Instead I find myself more often balancing balancing paper plates filled with tiny sandwiches on my knee and while smiling and nodding my head like I understand the value of a Bumbo, the difference between a sling and a wrap, and the trials and tribulations of breastfeeding. *

So what is my solution? Instead of not showing up for showers held for friends and family I decided to start offering to host the showers instead. Sound a little crazy? Not really. I can stack and arrange open presents instead of sitting and pretending to gush over the 20th onesie. I lead the games instead of participating. I can decide what food will be provided instead of being stuck with a plate full of egg salad sandwiches.

This blog was started as an information site for guests attending a friend's shower I had hosted. One year later as I finally got around to deleting it I decided instead to update it with some of the information and ideas I found and used while planning this (an other) showers over the years. Hopefully if you have stumbled across this site in your search for shower ideas and inspiration you find it useful.

*On a side note, when hosting a baby shower always provide wine. It is not for the mom to be or the other parents in the room. Provide wine so all of the single and childless guests can get a little tipsy and soften 2 hours of baby madness.*
