Diaper Cake

A relatively cheap (at a minimum the cost of a large box of diapers plus some ribbon and rubber bands) and easy decoration is the traditional baby shower diaper cake. It also doubles as a great gift for the mother-to-be.

Diaper cakes can easily be modified to fit a shower theme through the use of ribbon and decorative additions. I have found a lot of great baby shower inspired ribbon and decorative items at stores like Walmart and the Dollar Store. The cake to the left for a new little boy is topped with bow make of two burp cloths. The cake below for a spring tea party was topped with a few flower placed in an open baby bottle placed in the centre of the top two tiers.

I will not go into detail on how to make a diaper cake since a quick google search will provide you with a wealth of information and a variety of techniques.

I like the look of the rolled diaper cakes. However they take much longer to make than a fan diaper cake, and will require the new mom to remove the elastic from each diaper before use.
